SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
There is a real and significant cost to high-quality arts programming; we cannot deny that. Expenses include facilities rental and maintenance, teacher salaries, course supplies, and all the costs of “keeping the lights on.” Our staff and funders recognize that these costs cannot always be absorbed by all families. Arts programming must also be accessible to all people, and in light of that, we are thrilled to offer a variety of scholarship opportunities for those who need them.
NEED-BASED SCHOLARSHIPS

What it is: These scholarships are based on demonstrated family need and require income documentation and verification. These scholarships are funded by HUD (Housing and Urban Development) via Upper Darby Township and may require additional information not regularly collected by UDAEF. Scholarships are available until they are expended or before December 31, 2026.
How much is this scholarship?
These scholarships cover 100% of enrollment costs for select SPARC program participation.

How do I apply?
First, enroll in the program of your choice.
Second, complete this form within 48 hours of enrolling.
How will I know if my application is approved?
You will receive an email within 4-5 business days if your application is approved or denied.
If approved: A discount will be applied to your account and your enrollment is complete!
If denied: You are still welcome to pay the balance for the class or elect to unenroll. Account balances must be paid by close of enrollment, or your enrollment may be cancelled and funds forfeited. If you choose to unenroll, please contact enrollments@udfoundation.org to complete the unenrollment process.

What it is: A scholarship for Upper Darby Summer Stage Programming. Funds will be available first come first served until funds are expended.
How much is this scholarship?
Scholarship awards vary in amount and do not fully cover the enrollment fee; with available funds, we aim to extend the magic as broadly as possible.

How will I know if my application is approved?
Acceptances will be approved on a rolling basis and we will make every effort to communicate acceptance before enrollment payment is due.
If approved: A discount will be applied to your account and the balance can be paid at that time.
If denied: You are still welcome to pay the balance for the program or elect to unenroll. Account balances must be paid by close of enrollment, or your enrollment may be cancelled and funds forfeited. MERIT-BASED SCHOLARSHIPS

What it is: The Schoener Legacy Fund provides scholarships to Upper Darby School District instrumental music students. Scholarships are awarded based on music teacher recommendations and are available until funds are fully expended.
LOCATION-BASED SCHOLARSHIPS

What it is: Upper Darby Township provides scholarships to residents to attend and participate in one (1) Upper Darby Summer Stage program per summer. Funds will be available until they are expended.
How much is this scholarship?
This scholarship funds 100% of the enrollment fees.

What it is: The 3D Technology scholarships are awarded to participants interested in eligible technology-based programs at the SPARC. Scholarships are available first-come first-served until funds are expended for each eligible program.
How much is this scholarship?
Scholarships fund the entire enrollment, after a $50 enrollment deposit by the participant.

Q: How often can I apply for these scholarships?
A: UDAEF invites families to apply for one method of scholarship, per program, per calendar year. This allows us to assist as many families as possible. Please note that some funds may come with specific stipulations regarding reapplication.
Q: Can I appeal the scholarship decision?
A: No. Many scholarships and awards come with specific guidelines and restrictions. UDAEF works diligently to award funds with fidelity and will work to communicate the reason for a decline of an application.
Q: Why are your programs so expensive?
A: At UDAEF, our program costs reflect our commitment to quality. We prioritize paying our staff fairly, maintaining safe and well-equipped spaces, and delivering strong education experiences. At the same time, we work hard to keep programs as affordable as possible by securing grants, donors, and sponsorships to help offset costs and reduce the financial burden on families.
