The Upper Darby Arts and Education Foundation

Enhancing education and the arts in an extraordinary community

Events

Save the Date: January 21, 2012 Gala

Amazing things are happening in the Upper Darby School District! Since 1987 The Upper Darby Arts and Education Foundation has been making a real difference in the Upper Darby School District. Last year the Foundation awarded over $157,000 in grants to benefit innovative classroom projects, music and art, robotics, academic scholarships, Upper Darby Summer Stage and a documentary on the successes of our district. Our teachers will attest to the excitement created by a $1,000 mini-grant. Our music teachers are thrilled to receive new instruments or technology. Our students benefit every day from the Foundation’s support. Superintendent Lou DeVlieger comments, “In Upper Darby School District’s continuous improvement effort, the contributions from the Upper Darby Arts and Education Foundation have been significant in helping us to raise the bar. The Foundation’s support to our teachers through mini-grants as well as major upgrades in science, technology, and, most especially, our arts and music programs, has turned hopes and dreams into reality.” I invite you to join dozens of local business and community leaders to partner with the Upper Darby Arts and Education Foundation as a sponsor for our 14th annual Gala on January 21. This year it’s titled “You Can’t Stop the Beat” and celebrates 175 years of public education in the Upper Darby School District. The Gala is the Foundation’s primary fundraiser and raises more than $50,000 that directly benefits children. We need your help to maintain our commitment to our students. I know of no other school district that can coordinate the efforts of over 700 music students and their teachers that we showcase in our annual Gala. Please join us to cheer on the future of our community as we work together to provide the education our children deserve.
